The Execution of Lü Bu
“The Execution of Lü Bu” is an episode from the Romance of the Three Kingdoms. It tells how Lü Bu, betrayed by his own men, is captured and brought to White Gate Tower. He pleads with Cao Cao for mercy and asks Liu Bei to speak on his behalf. Liu Bei, however, reminds Cao Cao of Lü Bu’s past betrayals of Ding Yuan and Dong Zhuo. Cao Cao ultimately orders Lü Bu to be strangled and then beheaded.
